EFS V1.1 - Web browser, Linux build, bug fixes, and more!

Version 1.1 of Escape From Somnium has been released.

MAJOR updates:

  • EFS now supports WebGL! You can play it right here, on this webpage, with a keyboard, browser, or mouse. You could even use a Chromebook, a tablet, or any device with a web browser, really. The graphics are less pretty than the Windows or Linux versions, though, so I recommend playing those versions if possible.

  • A Linux build has also been released, along with an updated Windows build that fixes some bugs. The fixed bug list/change list is below.

Here’s a list of minor changes:

  • Changed default button to advance text to spacebar, and “h” to hide UI, as is Ren’py and visual novel standard
  • Set default behavior of skip to “skip read text only”. This can be changed in the settings to “skip all”, of course.
  • Added controller support. Has been confirmed with the Xbox One controller, but supports more, I am certain
  • Added some end tags to text effects like <shake></shake> or <wiggle> so they would display and truncate properly
  • changed the end credits font to use Textmesh UI instead of legacy UI
  • set the UI to use higher-resolution text and scale properly
  • fixed the backlog. Previously, the backlog would display Text Animator values like <shake> inside of the log, but I remedied this by cloning and slightly modifying the backlog UI and rollback prefab
  • fixed some compiler errors

Enjoy! Please share with your friends and leave a comment, they really do help!
